It was a busy regular meeting of the Bleckley County Board of Education held October 19. One of things dealt with was setting the tentative millage rate.

The rate was left at 14.1 However, because of changes to tax digest (many with higher assessed property values) it constitutes a 6.44 percent tax increase. Therefore, by law, public hearings will be held on the rate.

Hearings will be held in the board meeting room on October 5 at 6 pm, and October 17 at 8 am and 5:30 pm. The final rate will be set during the regularly scheduled board meeting that night at 6 pm.
