BCHS could’ve been 4-0 going to Friday’s Homecoming game against Pelham if one or two plays had gone differently the past two weeks.. The Royals though focused on winning their game against the Hornets.

Marcus Newson almost scored on this play.

Things got off to a rough start when Pelham picked off the first pass on BC’s first possession and returned it 46 yards for six. Kam Everett though tied the score when he dashed 46 yards to the endzone. BC surprised the Hornets with an onside kick that was recovered by Iverson Baker.

Everett got his second rushing touchdown from two yards out to cap the drive. With 4:47 left in the first, the Royals had their first lead of the game, 14-7. Early in the second, Josh Stanley, Jr. dashed 39 yards for six.

The lead of 21-6 though would be cut to one score later in the quarter on a two-yard Hornet touchdown run. After an illegal substitution penalty on BC moved the ball closer, Pellham chose to go for two.

They were successful and the Royals lead was just 21-15 at halftime. Stanley though would change that early in the third. His 37-yard touchdown run, followed by a two-point conversion from Everett, made it 29-15 Royals.

Kam Everett had two touchdown runs.

Stanley scored again from a yard out with about a minute left as the lead opened up to 36-15. BC’s final score of the game came when Everett connected with Nazario Johnson on a 15-yard pass with 9:00 left in the game.

Lindsey Dykes State Farm was Friday night's game sponsor. Seen is the "Safe Driver Pledge" that many BCHS students signed.

Pellham got one more one-yard touchdown run with 6:14 left. The point after missed as BCHS celebrated Homecoming with a 43-21 win. Stanley rushed for 120 yards on 13 carries. Everett was 13 of 20 for 135 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed 61 yards on four carries. Newson had three catches for 59 yards.

The Royals travel to Westfield September 29. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
