The FFA Ag Mechanics National Champions were recognized. It was just the fourth time a team from Georgia had won.

BCHS looked for another quarterfinal appearance when they hosted Irwin County Friday night. However, the Royals had no luck against the Indians.

The line tries to make a hole for Josh Stanley, Jr.

Irwin took the opening kickoff and drove 65 yards, the final three coming in the form of a touchdown run. A two-point conversion failed but the Indians led 6-0.

Country Financial was Friday's game sponsor. Jennifer Childers presented a game ball to Quincy Fletcher.

Marcus Newsome returned the ensuing kickoff to Irwin’s 46 but the drive stalled. IC would take their next drive deep into Royal territory. JB Blackshear’s interception stopped the drive. But again, the Royals couldn’t capitalize.

The One Act Play cast was recognized for repeating as state champions.

IC would connect on a 17-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the second. Another two-point conversion failed but Irwin led 12-0 going into halftime. BC drove to the Irwin 38 to open the third but faltered on fourth down.

Several Royals are in on the stop.

An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Royals moved the ball into Royal territory. The Indians capitalized on another touchdown run. This time they kicked the extra point and went ahead 19-0.

The Indians got another short rushing touchdown in the final minute of the third, and a pick six in the fourth as Bleckley’s season ended 31-0. They were held to just 37 total yards. The Royals finish 9-3.
