Altered plans don't deter Royals.

BCHS was originally planning to travel to Bacon County for the Blueberry Cheer Invitational. But Alma and Bacon County are still recovering from the severe damage suffered from Hurricane Helene, forcing the competition’s cancellation.

So Bleckley went north, travelling to Fayetteville for the Starr’s Mill Invitational. Though were just two other teams competing, it gave the Royals a chance to perform in front of different judges.

A bit smaller, but still loyal group of supporters made the trek up to see the squad. The familiar chant of “Bleckley County” rang out before they entered. They cheered loudly as BC was called to the mat.

The Royals had a solid performance. Good energy, good jumps, good tumbling. There was a stunt group that came down early, not all stunts were pulled. And there was a issue with the pyramid toward its conclusion. But it was a good job overall, and applauded by supporters.

BC would eventually be announced as winning first place. In remarks to the squad after the competition, head coach Heather Davis praised the things done well including increasing their score, but also noted the need for continued improvement in their execution because they were “leaving points on the mat.”

The Royals will take Fall Break off and return to action October 19 at South Forsyth.
