With the holidays done, region play resumed for BCHS Friday night against East Laurens. The Lady Royals held off a tough Lady Falcon team while the Royals never truly clicked against the Falcons. The BC girls went in to the game ranked ninth, East Laurens 10th. The Falcons went in ranked fifth.

Ava Jenkins

Despite going 5 of 13 from the free throw line in the first half, BC only trailed 24-21. A 6-0 burst in the third helped them to a four-point lead going to the fourth. With under four minutes left and leading 48-43, Bleckley had a chance to put a little distance between themselves and EL with four straight free throws.

Kalyria Jones

They missed all four and would go on to miss 8 of their final 10. Even though the Lady Falcons got within one score twice, and had a shot at game-tying three with under 20 seconds left, BC hung on to win 50-47. Ava Jenkins scored 27 points. Camya Harris had 12 points.

Jamary Evline

EL used a 12-3 second quarter run to take a 15-point second quarter lead. Jaylin Gardner’s basket in the final seconds of the first half cut the deficit to nine.

The Falcons though would re-establish a double digit lead in the third and were ahead by 14 going to the fourth. Though the lead would grow to 18, BC did manage to get within eight points with under two minutes left. But they’d fall 70-60.

Nykez Farrow

Gardner had 15 points. Nykez Farrow led with 17 points. Bleckley resumes their rivalry with Dodge County tomorrow in Cochran. Varsity girls tip at 5 pm.
