Notes on baseball pictures and seeking new advertisers.

Hopefully, you've noticed something about the baseball pictures posted with stories this spring. What I hope you've noticed is that many of them didn't have fence in the way like others used to.

That's because I'd been using an old 70-200 MM lens which has a big enough aperture to be able to zoom through the fence. Even before I got sick, standing at the fence was hard because of my knees. Since my illness, my balance issues make it impossible.

That lens was allowing me to get some really clear photos. That is, until last Thursday when the high school was playing at A.C.E. As I was attempting to get my camera bag out of my wagon, the bag suddenly popped open.

That 70-200 lens hit the cement. That night, it was difficult to get anything decent photo wise. I couldn't get the lens to focus, manual or automatic. When I'd zoom in, the image through the viewfinder was blurry.

This past Monday, I shipped the lens off to a repair place in Atlanta. I have 0 idea how long it'll take to get fixed, how much it'll cost, or when I might get it back. It's got to be repaired because a new one runs about $1,500.

In case you're wondering why you're just hearing about this lens now, I'd forgotten I had it. My brain took a beating with the illness, the low blood salt, the brain bleed from falling off some stairs, the myelin sheath damage. My hope now for the lens is to get it fixed so I can use it for baseball and hopefully get better football pictures this fall since I'm not able to get up and down the sidelines.

I'm going to apologize in advance for the pictures that have fence in the way. Now, about advertisers. I learned this week that one wants to pull their ad when the current billing cycle ends. I'm disappointed of course, but to paraphrase Hyman Roth, this is the business I've chosen.

Anyway, I am hoping to find at least one to replace it. In case you weren't aware, advertising checks are vital to the site. They pay for things like gas and other expenses for the house since it's also my office.

My ad rates are $35 a month with no long-term commitment. If you do go for two months or more at a time, it's still $30. You're not going to find a cheaper rate anywhere, especially with all the content I cover on a daily basis.

If you're interested, if you have questions, email BleckleyProgress@aol.com, or call (478)230-6556.

Thanks for reading and for your support. I've been doing this for 19 years and it's because of your support that I'm still at it.
