BCHS traveled south Friday night for a second round playoff matchup against top ranked Worth County. It was a close battle between the Rams and Royals that ultimately came down to the final play.

Connor Cairney

BC trailed 14-7 after one quarter thanks to an 89 yard touchdown reception by the Rams. The Royals failed to capitalize on a blocked punt on the previous possession that had them at the Worth 13.

Kix Foskey

In the second, Zyion Love provided an answer for BC as he scored from three yards out with 10:03 left. But the Rams answered on their next drive, a five-yard touchdown run gave them the lead again.

BC would again hold serve, this time on a one-yard run from Kix Foskey to tie the game at 21. That was the score at halftime as Worth missed a 21-yard field goal in the final moments.

In the third, Worth retook the lead on a 13-yard touchdown run. Octavius Tate returned the ensuing kickoff to the Ram 49.

The drive was capped with another Love touchdown run, this time five yards to tie the score. Worth though would again answer, this time on a 19-yard touchdown run.

The Royals got deep into Ram territory on their next possession due to a late hit. On fourth and goal from the six, Tate threw a touchdown pass to Brody Fleming as the game was tied again at 35.

A good tackle.

In the fourth, Jahiyan Blackshear intercepted a pass on the Royal 10 to stop a potential go ahead score. But BC couldn’t move the ball and punted it back.

Though Worth started from their own 36, a 64-yard completion got them to the BC five. With five seconds left, the Rams kicked a 20-yard game winning field goal to end BC’s season 38-35.

Fleming was 12 of 25 for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Love rushed for 175 yards on 24 carries and two scores. BC finishes the season 9-3.
