Basketball teams open season with wins at Wilco.

BCHS opened the season Friday night traveling to the Palace to take on Wilkinson County. The Warriors are a perennial power, winning 11 state titles. But on this night, the Lady Royals and Royals prevailed.

The Lady Royals burst out to a 34-4 halftime lead. It was a mercy rule clock by the fourth quarter as BC rolled 58-20. Kalyria Jones had 16 points. Camya Harris scored 14 points. Evian Beck added 10 points.

Wilco jumped out to a 9-0 lead but the Royals closed the half on a 25-7 run to lead 25-16 at halftime. The Warriors got within three in the third but BC closed the quarter 11-1.

Malachi Ates


After building a 15-point lead early in the fourth, BC was outscored 9-4 the rest of the way but still prevailed 45-35. Rashod Farrow scored 13 points. Marty Beck added 11 points.

Bleckley opens region play December 9 at Washington County. Girls tip at 6 pm with boys to follow.
