The Bleckley County Board of Education held their final meeting of 2025 December 16. As it was the final meeting of the year, things for 2026 and 2027 were voted on.

As part of consent items, the FY2027 calendar and BOE meeting dates for 2026 were approved. The big change was to meeting dates as they’ll be held on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm unless otherwise noted. The reason for the first meeting being held at the high school auditorium is because there will be special recognition.

In other matters, the board continued their comprehensive policy review of board policies. Discussed were Sections E. Business Management, Section F. Facility Expansion Program, and G. Personnel. According to meeting minutes, Dr. Trey Beflower asked if board members wanted to make any changes that would’ve remained on the table for one month. There were no suggestions.

The only thing of note from the executive session was the board accepted the resignation due to retirement of BCMS teacher and coach Ray Hardin, effective at the end of the year. Hardin had announced his retirement a couple of months ago.
