It was the final home games before Christmas break as BCHS wrapped up their season series with Washington County Saturday afternoon. The Golden Hawks swept BC in games played in Sandersville December 9.

Kalyria Jones

The Lady Hawks led 30-27 at halftime. It was a back and fourth third quarter that saw Waco take a three-point lead to the final frame. In what was a back and fourth period, BC was down with under a minute left. Lyric Stephens drained a 3 with 26 seconds left to give the Lady Royals a two-point lead.

Cochran Pest Control was a game sponsor. Pictured with boys coach Garrett Collins is owner Hellen Hill.

BCHS forced turnovers on the next two Lady Hawk possessions and hit two of four free throws to win 54-50. Kalyria Jones scored 10 of her team leading 17 points in the first half. Zyaire Lindsey added 13 points.

Mission Construction was also a game sponsor. Standing in for them was assistant coach Nolan Gottlieb.

The Royals were down 30-23 at halftime. They battled to get closer in the third only to see the Golden Hawks push the lead to five or seven. But Rashod Farrow hit a buzzer beating jumper to cut the deficit to three.

Waco and BC battled in the fourth with the Golden Hawks maintaining a slim lead. Down one with under 30 seconds left, a steal and layup by Marty Beck gave BC a 50-49 lead. Both teams exchanged turnovers and the Hawks got the ball back with four seconds left. That was enough time for them to drive to the basket from half court and get a layup as time expired to win 51-50.

Jason McNulty scored 19 points. Bleckley has their final games before Christmas December 22 at Perry. Girls tip at 3 pm with boys to follow.
