Rec. department teams and the BCMS football team got to run out of the tunnel Friday night. Rec. department cheerleaders got to cheer along with the Royal cheerleaders before the game.

If one word could be used to describe the Bleckley County football team this season, it'd likely be "incomplete." Even against Southeast Bulloch, the Royals were down 14-0 before rallying to win. Hosting Toombs in the final home game of 2008, fans saw the mix of good and bad plays which has led to the team's 1-8 record.

The BCMS cheerleaders cheered during the first half of Friday's game with the BCHS squad.

BCHS took the opening kick to the Toombs 33 but was stopped on fourth down. TCHS went the other way, scoring on a 14-yard run with 6:15 left to take the lead.

A Royal fumble on their second possession set Toombs up at the BCHS 22 with 5:32 left. Toombs capitalized immideately, hitting a touchdown pass to go up 14-0. The deficit grew to 21-0 on a 30-yard touchdown run with 2:33 left.

The Royals appeared to be mounting a drive again, getting the ball to the Toombs 17. But a sack stopped it with 9:36 left in the second. Bleckley's defense would make a stand. Toombs drove from their own nine to the Royal 39. BCHS would stop them on fourth down.

But the Bulldogs would strike on fourth down in the last minute, converting on 4th and 10 from the BC 35. Toombs again struck quickly, hitting another touchdown pass with 28 seconds left to go up 28-0.

A personal foul on the ensuing return helped move the ball up for Bleckley. As time ran out, Blake Lucas hit a 35-yard field goal to put the Royals on the board.

Toombs though wasn't done. A 22-yard touchdown run early in the third increased the deficit to 35-3. Another BC fumble with 7:10 left had the Bulldogs at the Bleckley 22. Toombs scored on a 10-yard run to go up 42-3. Their last score came on an 18-yard pass with 3:10 left. Bleckley lost its home finale 48-3.

The 8th grade band got to perform during the halftime show and the Future Dazzlers got to dance with the Dazzlers.

Dalton Dabbs had 49 yards on eight carries. Roy Veal, who had 17 yards on seven first-half carries, saw limited second-half duty. Veal, who's battled a sprained ankle throughout the season, appeared to tweak it on the wet surface.

Bleckley has an off week before playing their last game of the season November 7 in Vidalia. Game time is 7:30 pm.
