Cole Exum of Valdosta, grabbed the lead from pole sitter
Russell Brown (also of Valdosta), then held off the hard
charging Brown to capture the Georgia-Alabama Poole's
Service Center of Helena, Georgia Sportsman Showdown at Cochran Motor Speedway September 20. Danny Stoud of Phoenix City, Alabama placed third, Josh Taylor of Ellaville was fourth, and Billy Nipper of Macon was fifth.

After drivers introduction and prior to the green flag
Brown accepted the Last Air and Electric/Mike Head
fastest qualifier award of $200.00. Nine-year old Megan Stroud of Phoenix City gave the command "Gentlemen Start Your Engines", then for the 30 lap event, fans were cheering for the 15 car field.

In post race ceremonies, Exum accepted the winning trophy & plaque from David Poole of Poole's Service Center in Helena. Afterwards, he gave special event announcer Willis Wombles a brief interview, then walked into the grandstands and presented the autographed plaque to a child from Abbeville.

Other racing action saw other racing action Bubba Howell of Danville won the Pure Stock feature, Dustin Miller of Cochran won the Super Street, Blake Smith of Dublin won the Late Model and Robbie Bland of Dublin won the Bomber Main Event.

Before the races, track owners Joni and Chris Martin were presented with an appreciation award from the Shriners for their contributions to the group. Races return October 11 with a 30-lap Bomber Feature paying $3,000 to win as well as action in other divisions.
