For the first time in a month, Bleckley football players and coaches didn't have to arrive on a bus. The Royals were home to take on Berrien High School, their final non-region game.

September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Shawn Tingle (wearing #3) walked out with the captains and served as honorary captain Friday night. The ten-year old is battling Leukemia.

A roughing the kicker penalty on Bleckley extended the Rebels opening drive. It stopped at BC's seven. Though a 24-yard field goal was good, Berrien was flagged for illegal procedure. From 29 yards out, the kick was no good.

Anthony Wright's 81-yard run on BC's opening possession set the offense up on Berrien's nine. Wright scored from two yards out. With 3:47 left it was 7-0. Wright got loose again in the second, scampering 51 yards to the end zone. Bleckley led 14-0 with 9:19 left in the half.

Both teams had turnovers as the first half wound down. A Rebel drive was stopped via a fumble on Bleckley's five. The Royals fumbled on their 25 but Berrien fumbled on the next play. For a second straight game, BC led at halftime.

Though he saw time on offense, LaDarrick Vickers still plays defense for the Royals.

Berrien picked off a pass at their 39 in the third. They would make it a one score game with 4:16 left on a 33-yard touchdown run. Antavis Robertson's 64-yard run, his longest of the season, made it 21-7 less than a minute later. Late in the fourth, Berrien recovered another fumble near midfield.

With 3:00 left, they connected on a 33-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-14. Austin Simmons recovered the onside kick but Bleckley couldn't run out the clock. Backed up via penalty, Berrien was forced to go for it on fourth and 20 from their five. It failed. Wright scored with 1:57 left.

The ensuing kickoff was onside kicked. BC recovered and attempted to kneel down and run out the clock. Berrien would force a fumble but it wouldn't factor in the Royals second straight win 28-14. Wright finished with a career best 198 yards on 19 carries.

Antavis Robertson scores.

It was part of a season best 323 yards on the ground. Robertson finished with 70 yards on five carries, all in the second half. Bleckley's defense held Berrien to 95 yards rushing.

Region play begins two weeks when BC hosts Lamar County. Kickoff is 7:30 pm. It will also be "Pink Out" for breast cancer awareness.
