Girls track wins region, boys runner up.

It was a lead of over 40 points for the girls as Thursday's 4-AA track finals began in Barnesville. The boys were close but had lost team members just before region began.



Both teams though would walk away with trophies. For the girls, it was their second straight region title. The boys would score enough points to finish runner up.

Results from Thursday are as follows. Girls.

Alondria Clemons.


Fellisia Young- First in 100 meter dash.
Alondria Clemons- Second in 100 meter hurdles, seventh in 300 hurdles.

Madison Powell.


Ellen Powell- First in 800 meter run, first in 1600 meter run.
Madison Powell- Third in 800 meter run, fourth in 1600 meter run.

Chan Farrow.


The 4x100 team of Clemons, Farrow, Ellen Powell, and Young finished second. Both Ellen and Madison Powell, along with Farrow and Young, finished second in the 4x400 relay.

Team members and coaches Dwone Hicks, Pedro Holiday, Debbie Caldwell, and John Stanley are doing a "C" in honor of Coach Shelly Cranford. He was unable to attend Thursday due to the death of his father Freeman Cranford that morning.

Shamar Slappy- Sixth in 100 meter dash.
Tae Holiday- Fifth in 200 meter dash.

Anuj Patel- Second in 800 meter run.
Clay Blanton- Seventh in 800 meter run.

Austin Cook- First in 3200 meter run.
Bronson Sanders- Second in 3200 meter run.

Porter Arnold- Sixth in 110 meter hurdles, seventh in 300 hurdles.
Will Simmons- Seventh in 110 meter hurdles.

LaDarrick Vickers- Sixth in 300 meter hurdles.

4x400 team (Patel, Cook, Slappy, Holiday) seventh.

Boys team members and coaches.


Those who finished in the top four of their event advance to state sectionals. They will be held at Ben Hill County Middle School May 2 at 10 am.
