Carter Raffield tags out a Jeff Davis player trying to go to first after a bunt. |
Wednesday night wasn't the first time BCHS had a lead against Jeff Davis. The Royals havve given the Yellow Jackets several close games in recent years, including an extra inning loss earlier this season. But unlike other times, Bleckley held on in the end.

Third inning RBI groundouts by Steven Knighton and Chance Pittman tied the score at two. Andrew Butler's fourth inning grounder to second was dropped allowing the go ahead run to score. A sixth inning RBI groundout by Jeff Davis made the game 3-3.
Nash Mullis had a two-run single as part of a three-run sixth. The Jackets got a two-run home run with one out then got runners at first and second with one out. But Sam Knighton got a fly ball to Mullis and a grounder to Carter Raffield preserving the Royals 6-5 win. It was their first against Jeff Davis since a 2008 first round playoff sweep.
Butler was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Cody Dennis went 2 for 2. Jack Fernandez was 2 for 3. Bleckley plays at Dublin Thursday afternoon. JV at 4 pm with varsity to follow.
