Football season begins at CBRD.

After an opening day that saw over 800 people attend, weekly football games began Monday at the Cochran-Bleckley Rec. Department. Games are played on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Also, signups for fall baseball and softball are ongoing and will be taken through October 6. Cost is $35. Call 478-934-3225 for more information.

Local softball players descend on Douglas.

Clara Rickerson slides home safely for the Bleckley-based Alley Cats.
Local softball players who aren't old enough for middle school ball have been keeping their skills sharp with travel ball. Saturday, several were in Douglas including a local team that was within a half inning of playing for their first tournament title.

Dublin-based Full Throttle Baseball participated in the Atlanta Braves Youth Baseball Classic this weekend. Two players from Cochran, Carson Waters and Steven Knighton, have played with the team this season and were part of the action. Full Throttle won first place in the 12 and under divison Sunday.
