Bleckley Powerhouse makes debut.

The newly-formed Bleckley Powerhouse travel baseball team made their season debut in a tournament Friday played at Luther Williams Field in Macon. They defeated the Assassins 5-0 and lost in the final inning to Fall Line Fury 6-5. The team plays tomorrow in Macon at 2 pm.

The battle for first in church softball begins.

The annual Bleckley County Church League Softball tournament began Friday night at Limestone Baptist Church. Mt. Calvary Baptist Church got a pair of wins against Limestone and First Baptist Church team two and New Life Church of God survived a late rally to defeat First Church of the Nazene.


Games start Saturday morning at 8 am. They'll be played at Limestone, Ruth Baptist Church, and House of Grace. The winners will play that afternoon for first place at Limestone.

The Cochran-Bleckley Rec. Department is currently doing registrations for football. Cost is $35 for flag (ages 4-6) and $55 for ages 7-14. Registration ends September 1. Call the office, 478-934-3225, with any questions.

Bleckley player has good weekend on the diamond.

Steven Knighton played with Dublin-based Full Throttle baseball this past weekend in the Camsports Summer Nationals held at Southern Pines. Knighton pitched the final two innings of the title game and also went 3 for 4. Full Throttle defeated Valdosta Fire 12-6 in that game, capping an undefeated tourney and first place finish.
