Big fourth quarter lifts Lady Royals to playoff victory.

A scoring run to begin the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game versus Southwest helped the Lady Royals secure a win in their region tournament opener Tuesday night.

Baseball team wins region opener. ***Updated***

Walker Boatright gave up three hits, one walk over seven innings, striking out 11 as BCHS won their region opener at Dodge County 9-0 Tuesday afternoon. He was also 2 for 5. Thomas Evans was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Bleckley will wrap up the home and home series with the Indians February 19 at 5:45 pm.

Soccer teams split with Dooly County.

Aniston Howell and Braylee Cobb had two goals each as the Lady Royals beat Dooly County 6-0 Tuesday afternoon. One of Cobb’s goals was a penalty kick and she also had an assist. Kenzie Perkins also had a goal and an assist. Layna Davis and Daylee Scoggins also scored. Will Dean had the Royals lone goal in their 3-1 loss. Bleckley hosts Macon County February 19. Girls play at 5 pm with boys to follow.

Sanders honored before tennis matches versus East Laurens.

Coach Sanders is pictured with former coach and AD Sam Barrs. The two are longtime friends.


Before BCHS took the court against East Laurens Tuesday afternoon, a brief ceremony was held to honor former coach Brad Sanders. In 27 years as head coach, Sanders led the program to 44 region titles, four state titles, two state runners up, and 27 semifinal appearances. As to the matches, BC won both 5-0. The next matches will be at home versus Tift County February 23 at 4 pm.

Barons fall at home to Swainsboro.

Though BCMS had a 6-1 lead after one inning versus
Swainsboro, the Barons couldn’t hold it as they fell to the Tigers 9-8 at home Tuesday afternoon. Ben Rycroft was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Cale Rycroft was 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Bleckley travels tomorrow to J.R. Trippe. Game time is 4:30 pm.
