Busy day for Cochran Woman's Club.

(Photo courtesy GFWC Cochran Woman’s Club Facebook page.) It was a busy Memorial Day for the Cochran Woman’s Club. That morning, they supplied refreshments to those who attended the Memorial Day program. They then met with Priscilla McIntyre, volunteer coordinator for “Camp Good Grief” in Eastman, GA. Camp Good Grief is for children ages 6 through 14 who are dealing with trauma not limited to but including death of a loved one, a family member with a terminal illness, adoption, or child abuse. A time to honor those who gave all.



A Memorial Day program was held Monday morning on the courthouse square. It included BCHS student Anna Grace Dykes singing the National Anthem, the presentation of colors by Patrick Mims, and an invocation delivered by Commissioner Mike Davis. Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Jones was the guest speaker and did the roll call of local service members who fell in the line of duty.. The program ended with the Pledge of Allegiance and the playing of TAPS.

Mimbs named District Teacher of the Year.

Mimbs, already chosen as Bleckley Primary Teacher of the Year is also a finalist for Pre-K Teacher of the Year.
