Though BCHS had seven hits, they took advantage of six errors by the Lady Chargers to beat Central 13-0 Tuesday afternoon. Addison Hill was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and also struck out eight. Bleckley plays at Dodge County September 12, game time 5:30 pm.

Rec. Department announces increase in registration fees.

The Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department announced via Facebook Monday night a $5 increase in registration fees for all sports, effective immediately. In the post, the increase was attributed to being notified by the city that the rec. department would begin being charged for services such as gas, water, and sewage. There were numerous replies. Candace Wells, city clerk, listed several reasons for the change including consistency with other groups such as the Downtown Development Authority being charged, as well as research in which she said she discovered other rec. boards pay for their services. She also stated the period of not being charged was a temporary measure in order to elevate financial strain under a previous board and director. Chris Coley, husband of council member Carla Coley, stated gas services were provided by Mid-State Energy, not the city. Board member Chan Jones replied to both Wells and Coley. He stated it was unrealistic to expect volunteer board members to balance a budget of which they had no control over when it could be changed by paid government employees. Jones also said if the city chooses not to provide the same level of support, the cost would be passed on to parents.
