Community News : Saying Thank You
Wrapping up a good few days at softball camp.

BCHS softball wrapped up the first annual Lady Royals Softball Camp Friday afternoon. It was a good turnout with 52 girls participating. They learned basics of the game from coaches as well as players. Thursday, University of South Carolina Lady Gamecock softball player Aniyah Black visited and demonstrated skills she’d picked up. Afte the final baserunning drill Friday, players headed to the Sunset Slush of Cochran trailer for a special treat. A slush with double scoops paid for by the camp. The Lady Royals thank the parents for letting their girls participate, the girls for their hard work, Aniyah for coming out, and Sunset Slush for being there Friday afternoon.

Children share what they learned at summer camp.

Children at Bethany Baptist Church had gone to a unique summer camp this week. The theme for Vacation Bible School was “Camp Firelight: A summer adventure with God.” Thursday night, they showed parents and others what they’d learned. Children and Student Pastor Kelly Hitchcock talked about the Bible stories the children learned each night and the songs that corresponded to the stories. A humorous moment happened at the end. The children were raising money for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. It was boys vs girls, with the adult leaders on the losing side having to eat crickets (to keep with the camp theme.) But because the children had reached the fundraising goal off over $600, both the top (coted on by the children) male and female leaders had to eat crickets. Thankfully, they were fried and not live.
