Portion of Dykesboro to be closed tomorrow for rail line replacement.

The City of Cochran announced via Facebook Norfolk Southern had informed them First Avenue in Dykeboro would be closed tomorrow for a rail line replacement. According to the post, the closure begins at 7 am and last until 6 pm. The post states every effort will be made to reopen the road before 6 pm.

It was the biggest fundraiser for the Cochran Bleckley Chamber of Commerce as they held their annual “Dueling Pianos” event Saturday night. Despite the frigid temps, the Jaycee Barn was full of people there to enjoy the food, fellowship, and music provided by Atlanta-based pianists Mark and Mark. Patrons not flush with cash could see chamber officials to use their credit card to get chamber bucks for things like drinks as well as pay the pianists to either play or not play a certain song. Proceeds from the evening will go toward the chamber and the newly formed Chamber Foundation which will provide scholarships to local high school students.
