Another sign it's almost baseball time.

Another sign that Royals baseball season is around the corner happened Saturday when the Dugout Club and team held their Meet the Players Fundraiser. Head coach Brad Davis went over with parents the rules for the season. The annual wing eating contest was held. Players got sponsors to support them as they ate. Shane Knighton (pictured) was the winner eating 64 wings. New for this year, the Dugout Club is forging outfield signs for digital advertising which will be displayed on a big screen monitor set up by the concession stand during games. Cochran Fire Department to hold push in ceremony for new ladder truck.

Cochran Fire Department will hold a push in ceremony for their new ladder truck February 2 at 4 pm. A push in ceremony dates back to the 1800's when firefighters would have to push horse-drawn equipment back into the station because it was too heavy for the horses to move.

Basketball teams win big at Jefferson County.

The Lady Royals had a 44-10 halftime lead en route to a 65-17 victory at Jefferson County Friday evening. Ter'Nazia Elvine and Kalyria Jones both scored 21 points. The boys led 31-16 at halftime and rolled 71-45. Caleb Farrow scored 19 points, Omari Jackson finished with 14 points, and Kam Everett had 12 points. BCHS hosts Dublin January 29. Varsity tip time is 6 pm.
