Georgia DOT to suspend interstate lane closures for Labor Day holiday.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced the suspension of all lane closures on interstates for the upcoming Labor Day holiday. A release states the closures will go from noon on August 29 through 5 am on September 2. Motorists are reminded some lane closures may still remain in place due to safety or emergency considerations.

Portion of Masonic Drive to be closed September 3.

The City of Cochran announced yesterday via Facebook that Masonic Drive, from the intersection of East Dykes Street to the curve of Masonic Drive would be closed September 3 and 4 due to a utility replacement. The street will reopen September 5.

BCHS scored seven runs on two outs in the bottom of the third en route to an 8-0 win in five innings versus Hawkinsville Wednesday afternoon. Emmie Williams threw five perfect innings, striking out eight, and was also 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI. Nyra Waters and Ashanti Flagg were both 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Zoey Adams and Kadence Carmichael each went 1 for 2. The Lady Royals host Northeast tomorrow at 5:30 pm.

Lady Barons have little trouble with Swainsboro.

Augusta Finch went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI as BCMS easily handled Swainsboro 13-2. Jeriyah Evans went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Addison Fish was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Bleckley travels to Jeff Davis September 2. Game time is 4 pm.
