Tuesday night's region opener at East Laurens was postponed due to weather. The Lady Royals travel to Swainsboro August 17. Game time 5:30 pm.

Good weekend for Bleckley Pickleball Association in Warner Robins.



(Photos courtesy Bleckley Pickleball Association Facebook page.) Members of the Bleckley Pickleball Association were in Warner Robins this past weekend for the Warner Robins Summer Classic. On day one, the BCPA picked up three medals. Silver, Women’s 40+ 3.0, Katherine Wade and Tara Odom. Gold (for the second straight tournament), Women’s 3.0 5-39, Caroline Thrower and Emileigh Stewart. Bronze Medal Men’s 3.5 All Ages, Caden and Todd Dupree. They picked up another medal on Mixed Doubles Day when Caden Dupree and Caroline Thrower won the Silver.

Local LEO's, EMS, attend training for new Air Evac landing pad.



(Photos courtesy Bleckley EMA Facebook page.) Members of the Bleckley County Fire Department, Sherriff’s Office, and Heartland EMS attended Air Evac Lifeteam landing zone training. Bleckley Emergency Management Agency recently completed a FAA permanent landing pad, with a lighted landing zone and paved walkway for EMS to transport patients from or to Bleckley Memorial Hospital. Proper instruction was taught by Lifeteam Program Director Britta Thomas. Local leaders attending included State Rep, Danny Mathis, Commissioner Mike Davis, and Bleckley EMA Director Matt Kelley.

 Middle School Sports
Lady Barons fall at home to West Laurens.


BCMS resumed region play Monday afternoon against West Laurens. Play was stopped for 30 minutes due to lightning in the area. BC escaped a bases loaded, no outs, jam in the first. The Lady Raiders took a 2-0 lead after four innings. One of the runs was controversial. The home plate umpire awarded home to a runner at third base (the only runner on base) following a catcher’s interference call. After getting within one in the fifth, Alayisa Coley’s RBI single tied things in the sixth. West Laurens led off the seventh with back to back solo home runs and scored four times. The Lady Raiders went on to win 6-2. BC had just two hits, Zoey Adams was 1 for 2 with a double. The teams will face off again, this time at West Laurens, August 16 at 5:30 pm
