A "totally rad" VBS.

Though there was no sign of Doc Brown or Marty McFly this week, Christ Chapel Cochran has gone back in time for their Vacation Bible School. This week�s theme has been �Bolt: Totally 80�s.� Things such as 80�s decorations, 80�s-themed worship songs, and 80�s style crafts like making a marshmallow man have been part of the �tubular� happenings. Tomorrow will be the last night, it starts at 6 pm.

Bleckley 4Her's do well at horse show.

(Photos contributed.) The state 4-H Horse Show was held May 31-June 3 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. The theme was �Saddle up for success.� Four 4Her�s did just that. Kaylee Cahill finished first overall in Senior Ranch Division and Moving advances Southern Regionals in August. In addition to this big win, Kaylee placed in all of her Ranch classes and received first place in Ranch Reigning and Ranch Sorting. Other 4Her�s participating were: Lydia Arnold - Junior Hunt Seat & Dressage Level 3, Jordyn Wells - Junior Hunt Seat & Dressage Level 3, Lexi Wade - Junior Contest Events. Bleckley 4-H thanks the volunteers, trainers, and parents for their support. A special thank you to Ashlynn Sessions for putting together stall decorations. Bleckley received fourth place in the Herdsman award.

Cochran Farmers Market doing well.

The Cochran Farmers Market has seen an uptick in vendors this year. Last weekend there were 10. Two new vendors are expected this weekend. The Farmers Market is open each Saturday from 8 am to noon on the courthouse square.

Bleckley County Fire Department had to "bee" prepared.

(Photos courtesy Bleckley County Fire Department Facebook page.) The Bleckley County Fire Department got an unusual call recently. They had to remove a swam of bees from the county courthouse. Thanks in part to firefighter Lynn Hamilton (who is a beekeeper), they were able to remove the bees unharmed.
