Voices combined to sing about Christmas.

Some of the songs had guest narrators.

Dr. Lane Collins.

It was a gathering of musical talent in the BCHS auditorium Saturday afternoon as four local church choirs combined to put on “Christmas for the City.” There was music from the combined handbell choir of Mt. Calvary and First Baptist Church, and a choir made up of people from Mt. Calvary, First Baptist, Bethany Baptist, and Limestone Baptist. FBC Worship Leader Matthew White served as emcee, but other worship leaders also go to lead the choir during different songs. Mt. Calvary pastor Dr. Lane Collins shared a brief Christmas message. There will be performances tomorrow at 3 and 6 pm. Admission is free.

Please don't touch my cane.

Tonight, I was trying to get a picture of the Bleckley Community Band performing in front of the courthouse. I had to wait because someone kept stepping in front of me. When I was finally able to get a couple of pictures, I felt something rub up against my right side. I'd been holding my cane in my arm so I could use two hands for the camera. Someone on the bench apparently felt I was in their way and did to get my attention. I looked at them briefly, said nothing. But it happening makes me very angry. Besides the fact the people on the bench could still mostly see the band, this person chose to invade my personal space rather than speaking to me directly. That's not ok. To quote a favorite song lyric, "I am human and I need to be loved. Just like everybody else does." If you feel I'm in your way, speak to me like a normal human being. You might be shocked at how polite I could be, how I'd explain to you what I'm doing and apologize for being in the way. Give it a try, but please don't touch my cane in the future.
