Updating a couple of stories.

A couple of updates on stories already posted. Regarding the opening of basketball courts (first reported in the CBRD board meeting article), city council voted at their meeting Tuesday to reopen the courts at Willie Basby Park. According to the post agenda, the city will coordinate with the rec. department. Updating the story regarding BCHS graduation, a post on the district Facebook page states a limited number of handicapped parking spots will be available behind Royal Stadium for graduation. Parents and guests will still be required in the Eastgate Plaza parking lot across the street.

Boston Butt sale will benefit church benevolence fund.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is holding a Boston Butt sale. Cost is $35. Pickup will be June 6 from 11 am-1 pm at the church, 134 Abney Road. Call (478)934-0810 to order or for more info. Proceeds will benefit the church benevolence fund. Orders are due by June 1.

Middle School Sports
Good season by Barons baseball celebrated.

Eighth grade players were given their home jerseys.
BCMS made the playoffs for the first time in several years. They were in contention for a region title until the end. A banquet to celebrate was held Thursday night.

High School Sports
Girls 4x800 team breaks school record at state.

The girls 4x800 team of Emily Youngblood, Piper Simpson, Johna Bowen, and Tristen Crosby broke the school record at the state meet held Thursday in Marietta. They finished with a time of 10:08, third place. It was the third time the group broke the record, Thursday’s finish was 22 seconds faster than last time.
