Weather affecting plans for local travel teams.

While travel baseball and softball tournaments have been played in rainy weather, the rain and chance of severe weather affected the plans of three local-based teams. Bleckley Bullets 11u baseball were scheduled to play in Cumming. The tournament was rescheduled for next weekend. Georgia Select 10u softball was scheduled to play in Cordele, the tournament was cancelled. Southeast Savage 12u softball was supposed to play in Dublin, that tournament was moved to tomorrow, the team isn't listed as participating. Georgia Select and Southeast Savage will be part of the USSSA G.R.I.T.S. Super NIT next weekend. Georgia Select will be in Dublin, Southeast Savage Cordele.

Girls tennis advances in playoffs.

The BCHS girls defeated Thomasville 3-0 Friday afternoon. They'll host Bremen in a quarterfinal April 26 at 4 pm. The boys host Callaway the next day at 3 pm.

After a relatively quiet season for both girls and boys track, both teams had strong finishes at region with the girls finishing second and the boys third.

Royals drop regular season finale. ***Updated***

BCHS had 5-1 lead going to the fifth versus Fitzgerald in their regular season home finale Thursday night. But the Hurricanes scored four in the fifth, another in the sixth, to go up 6-5. The Royals stranded runners at third in the home halves of the fifth and sixth and were retired in order in the seventh, losing 6-5. Ethan Hulsey and Caleb Senters went 1 for 2. BC had just five hits. The Royals open the playoffs versus Toombs County April 29. Game one starts at 4 pm.

Girls soccer makes history.

Lady Royals soccer sought to do something they'd never done in program history Thursday night versus Jeff Davis, win a playoff game. Aniston Dowdy gave BC the lead at 27:46 of the first half. The Lady Jackets scored at 21:24.

Tied at one in the second half, Jordyn Krieg broke the deadlock at 38:25. Jeff Davis would again answer about four minutes later.

Dowdy kicked home what proved to be the game-winner at 21:03 of the second half as BCHS held on to win 3-2. The Lady Royals await the winner of Fitzgerald versus Westside-Augusta.
