Medical fund set up for local woman battling cancer.

Ashlee Floyd is a married mother of three. She's pictured here with her children.

Ashlee Floyd is a lifelong Bleckley County resident recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer following an emergency surgery. She will have an operation August 8 at 7:30 am at Emory Winship Cancer Institute at St. Joseph�s Hospital that will help her medical team determine their next steps. A medial fund has been set up in her name at Citizens Bank of Cochran. The fund is designed to help with things like medical care, travel, and recovery related expenses. The name of the fund is the Ashlee Floyd Medical Account.

(Photos contributed.) The annual Back to School Prayer Walk was held Sunday night. Sponsored by the Bleckley Christian Learning Center, it began with a brief service. The service was led by BCLC students and featured former superintendent Dr. Steve Smith as guest speaker. After the service, people were free to walk the halls of all schools to pray for the upcoming school year. Teachers returned to school today, students return Friday.

Community input sought for future library programs.

The Ocmulgee Regional Library System, which includes the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran Bleckley Library, is seeking community input on what programs should be presented in the future. Past programs at ORLS branches have included knitting and crochet groups, paint and sip nights, puzzle challenges, board game nights, trivia events, and bingo. To participate, click the link.
