BOE seeking to fill District 1 member vacancy.

The Bleckley County Board of Education is seeking to fill the vacancy for the District 1 seat. Jessica Smith, who was to serve as the representative, chose not to be seated and has resigned. A district release states in accordance with state law, the board will appoint someone to serve until a special election will be held in conjunction with the next general non-partisan election in May 2022. That person elected will finish out the term for District 1 which ends December 31, 2024. Applications can be picked up at the Superintendent�s Office, 242 East Dykes Street. They can also be downloaded by clicking the link. All applications are due by February 11 at 4 pm. The new member will be expected to assume duties at or around February 24. [ Visit Website ]

The BCHS boys lost at Monticello 64-50 Tuesday night. Both teams will be in action versus Dodge County January 22 at 6 pm.

Registration for spring T-Ball, baseball and softball is open now at the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department through February 17. Cost is $55 and is open to ages 4-12. James Holland, age 87, and wife Gerry, age 85 were among those wh0 received the COVID-19 vaccine Monday at Heartland EMS. Both wanted to share how smooth things went and thank the many people involved in making it possible.
