Celebration honoring local man's years of service to the community May 14.

A special celebration to honor Russell "Whit" Davidson will be held May 14 from 10 am to 2 pm. Special recognition will take place at 11:30. Davidson has served the community in many facets including using his videography skills to capture special moments and his time as a Bleckley County Firefighter.

BCHS students graduate with dual honors from OFTC.

Four Bleckley County High School seniors will graduate with extra honors as part of Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s Dual Enrollment Program. Georgia’s Dual Enrollment Program allows qualified high school students to maximize their education and career training by taking courses that earn college and high school credit at the same time. Under Dual Enrollment, students may take academic core courses that can transfer to Technical College System of Georgia colleges or University System of Georgia (USG) colleges and universities. Students may also take occupational and career courses that can help jump start a career.  The Bleckley seniors who are among 141 dual enrollment graduates are Briggs Dominy (Lathe Operator), Hayden Eveans (Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder, Gas Metal Arc Welder, Gas Tungsten Arc Welder), Alexander Jones(Lathe Operator),, and Mattie Stokes (Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder, Gas Metal Arc Welder, Gas Tungsten Arc Welder).
