Local travel teams just miss championship game berth.

A pair of local-based softball teams were in action Saturday at the USSSA “Cordele Splash.” Southeastern Savage is a new 12u team which has several former members of Georgia Select when they were Surge Fastpitch. The team split pool games, then defeated the Suwanee River Buccaneers. But against AP-09, the team lost in walkoff fashion, missing a championship berth by one game.
Georgia Select (formerly known as Surge Fastpitch) was top seed in the 10u bracket. However, the team had a near six-hour layover which slowed momentum. They missed a championship game berth by one game, falling to E.P.I.C. 8-6 in extra innings. Both teams return to Cordele October 17.
