BCHS repeats as region literary champs.

Bleckley County High School won their second consecutive region literary championship Saturday in Cochran. First place events (advancing to state): boys and girls solo, boys quartet, personal and rhetorical essay, dual oral interpretation. Second place events: girls quartet (tied for first initially), argumentative essay, humorous oral interpretation and dramatic oral interpretation. Third place: domestic extemporaneous speaking. State will be March 14 at Veterans High School.

BCMS distance runners shine in Tallahassee, Florida meet.

BCMS track was in Tallahassee, Florida Friday for the Jesse Forbes Invitational. Highlights include Ella Gibbs placing first in the 1600 meter run, fourth in the 3200 for the girls and Briggs Dominy finishing fifth in both the 1600 and 3200 for the boys. Coulter gets first starts, first hit, in UGA softball wins.

Hannah Coulter got her first career starts Friday afternoon in UGA softballs games against Central Michigan and James Madison. Coulter went 1 for 2 in the game against the Dukes and scored the game-clinching run in the Lady Dawgs 19-11 comeback win. UGA will play James Madison tomorrow at 1 pm and Central Michigan at 3:30. Both games can be found on SEC Network Plus.

Early voting for presidential preference primary to begin March 2.

Early voting for the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary will start March 2 and go through March 20. Hours are 8:30 am-5 pm Monday through friday at the Board of Registrars Office, 112 N. Second Street. Voting will be available March 14 from 9 am-4 pm there also. The deadline for changes to name or address, or to register to vote is February 24.
