Cochran Christian Men's Fellowship event January 20.

The Cochran Christian Men's Fellowship is an interdenominational gathering of men that have been meeting regularly for almost two years to enjoy food, a time of sharing, and prayer. They'll be holding an event January 20 at 6:30 pm at First Baptist Church's Hangar, 130 Beech St. A meal will be provided for free. Guest speaker will be State Rep. Danny Mathis. Turner Chapel AME Church holding 100 Men in Black program, celebrating 55th missionary anniversary.

Turner Chapel AME Church will hold their 100 Men in Black program January 12 at 2:30 pm. Guest speaker will be Bishop John Moss from Faith Temple Precious Faith Ministries. On January 19, the Daisy P. Jones Missionary Society at Turner Chapel will celebrate their 55th missionary anniversary. Ladies attending are asked to wear missionary white, men are also invited. Guest speaker will Beverly Jackson, Macon South District President of the Women's Missionary Society. Turner Chapel is located at 163 N. Seventh Street in Cochran.

Soccer achievement recognized at awards banquet.


At Tuesday night’s middle school soccer banquet, both girls coach Wesley Odom and boys coach Jimmy Williams had praise for their teams. Odom was proud of how his young team made it to the playoffs, losing 1-0 to West Laurens after a 3-0 regular season loss. Williams praised his team for battling in every game, noting five of their losses were by one goal.

All players received certificates. Specific awards except Coach’s Award were voted on by players. Here are the winners. Girls: Best Defense: Kyla Davis. Best Midfield: Ella Gibbs. Best Offense: Makenzie Oxley. Most Improved: Ladasia Ates. Most Valuable Player: Riley Haley. Coach’s Award: Rylie McHolan. Boys: Best Offense: Marco Garcia. Best Defense: Joshua Morris. Best Midfielder: James Cairney. Most Valuable Player: Junior Telles. Most Improved: Joshua Hendrix. Coach’s Award: Sam Holloway. Congratulations to all the award winners.
