High School Sports
Two athletes participate in early signing day.

Wednesday morning was a big day for two BCHS athletes as each signed collegiate letters of intent to continue their sports careers as part of the early signing day taking place nationwide.. Royals punter Hugh Cairney signed with the University of Chicago. This season, he averaged 37 yards a punt with a long of 65. He also had 17 touchbacks. Cairney is pictured with Chris, Juliet, James, Connor, and Chong Cairney.
Riley Edge signed with Middle Georgia State University softball. Edge, the 3-AA Co-Pitcher of the Year, also hit .427 with five home runs. She is pictured with Sasha Edge, Kevon Farrow, Ty and Mike Edge.

FFA Junior Ag Mechanics team finishes state runner up.

The Bleckley FFA Junior Ag Mechanics Team finished runner up in the state Agricultural Technology & Equipment ID Career Development Event held December 14 at ABAC in Tifton. High individual was Ethan Parks with a perfect score. Chase Jones was third highest individual. Other team members were Caleb Senters and Jacob Foskey. The team was coached by Dr. Walt Parks.

Offensive Player of the Year part of 22 chosen for All Region football honors. ***Corrected***

Bryce Bailey was named 3-AA Offensive Player of the Year by region football coaches. He was one of 21 players selected, including a player who was on offense and defense and made first team on both. Click for more.

Boys rally in sweep of Telfair County.



Alyssa Fortune scored 14 points, Tesa Taylor added 13 points as the Lady Royals edged Telfair County 47-45. The Royals used an 18-4 run to erase a 14-point fourth quarter deficit and force overtime. BC outscored the Trojans 15-5 in the extra session to win 70-62. Shontavian Manuel led with 19 points. Amarion Blacksher scored 15 points. Ty Williams, Shon Jenkins, and Terrance Rozier each had 11 points. BCHS plays at the Bear Brawl December 20. The boys play Rutland High School at 4 pm, game will be played at Houston County High School. The girls take on Rutland at 5:30, their game will be at Feagin Mill Middle School.

Getting started with scouting.





A Girl Scouts interest event was held Tuesday night at Bleckley Primary. After reciting the Girl Scout Promise, they made Christmas cards that will be sent to Marty Mendoza, Jr. of Belton, Texas. Mendoza’s father asked people to send cards to his son, who is autistic. They also decorated ornaments. Other events are scheduled in the future.
