BCHS FBLA holds Officer Installation, New Member Induction, ceremonies.

(Photos courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.)Bleckley County High School FBLA held their annual Officer Installation and New Member Induction ceremonies this past Wednesday night in the high school auditorium. Co-sponsor Julie Hutto welcomed members and guests. State Representative Danny Mathis provided an invocation. Sponsor Melissa Barker then held the Officer Installation Ceremony. Installed as officers for Chapter 4622 of the Future Business Leaders of America were: Alexis Bowen, Treasurer. Cassidy Sanders, Reporter. Sophie Knight, Secretary. Amanda Kight, Vice President. Olivia Williams and Maislyn Corbin, Co-Presidents.
The newly installed offices then performed the member induction ceremony, charging them with goals and values of high expectations. All members then received their FBLA lapel pins. The night concluded with the thanking of guests and enjoyment of refreshments by all.

Lighting up the night for a good cause.





It was a “bright” night in Cochran as the Chamber of Commerce and Bleckley County High School FBLA hosted a glow run/walk. A portion of proceeds from the race will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The race drew over 60 participants.

High School Sports
Royals run past East Laurens.

BCHS jumped out to a 52-0 lead Friday night at East Laurens. As a result, reserves played the second half in their 59-7 win. Dominic Sasser went 12 of 20 for 193 yards and five touchdowns. Marcus Brown caught four passes for 118 yards and two scores. Javon Butler had 51 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 54 yards. Willie Chambers had three solo tackles, Quintavis "Scooter" Slappy two. The Royals are currently second in 3-AA. They'll seek to secure that spot as well as move toward getting to host a playoff game in two weeks against Dodge County in Cochran. Senior night ceremonies will be at 7 pm, kickoff at 7:30.

Called Board of Education meeting October 24.

There will be a called meeting of the Bleckley County Board of Education October 24 at 6 pm in the board meeting room, 242 N. Dykes Street. According to a Tweet posted by the district, the meeting's purpose is to act on personnel matters and any other business that comes before the board.

Events postponed tomorrow.

Tomorrow's Friends of the Library "Big Book Sale" has been postponed. It will be rescheduled for a date to be determined. The Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department announced via Facebook opening day for fall ball and soccer scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed until October 26.
