City announces location change for zoning meeting.

The City of Cochran announced via Facebook post that the July 1 Zoning Committee Meeting and public hearing will be held inside the Chamber of Commerce conference room, 102 N. Second Street. It starts at 6:30 pm.

Early runs propel 8u baseball to quarterfinal win.



For the first time since the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department joined Dixie Youth Baseball in 2015, the 8u team was playing for a state title, having finished as top seed during last weekend's pool play. Their opening opponent was Wrens. BC had a 7-0 lead after two innings and led 8-2 going to the fifth. Four runs in the home half secured a 12-2 win and semifinals berth. Their next game is tomorrow at 10:45 am in Cochran.

Howell announces release of first single.

Rebecca Howell has wowed fans both locally and nationwide with her performances of country hits. Now, fans of the former Voice contestant will get to hear her sing her own work. In a Twitter post, Howell announced her first single, "No Lip," would be released July 2. According to the post, the song will be available on both Apple Music and Spotify.

Bullets baseball raffle will go toward cost of new jerseys.

Bleckley County Bullets travel baseball is selling raffle tickets for VISA gift cards. Tickets are $5 each, or three for $12. First prize- $500 VISA Gift Card. Second prize- $100 VISA Gift Card. Third prize- $50 VISA Gift Card. Drawing will be July 27. Tickets can be purchased at BC Polish Therapy, 150b Peacock St. Call (478)595-7339 for more information. Proceeds will go toward the cost of new jerseys.

Learning was fun at Bleckley 21st Century Summer Camp.

Bleckley 2st CCLC (Century Community Learning Center) once again held a camp for students over 20 days this summer offering academic and enrichment activities. There were field trips to the Tessie W. Norris Library as well as the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon and Go Fish in Perry.
Georgia Southern University’s Center for Wildlife Studies brought their Raptors and Reptiles program to the students. Think Tank mobile escape room was at camp for two days as was Beatin Path music education program.


There was a full week of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities for students. Camp of Champs Basketball Camp of Academic and Character Education visited during the final week.
