The Wild West comes to Cochran.

A wild wet show came to Christ Chapel Cochran Wednesday night. Specifically, Tony Evans and family were in town for the first of a three-night kids crusade. The show, featuring comedy, music, puppets, magic, and ministry, has been done by Evans, his wife Stella, and other family members for nearly 40 years. Though it was a kids crusade, the show’s format featured opportunities for adults to be involved as well.
Pastor Rich Hulsey said they’d been wanting to do a Vacation Bible School/summer camp event. He said they’d worked with the Evans in the past, Tony and son Jamie did a presentation during a movie night months back which was well received. Schedules worked out for both sides to begin the crusade to begin Wednesday night. Hulsey also said the event was a chance to do something for kids and families.


The show and crusade continues tomorrow and Friday night. It’s open to all. Dinner is at 6:30 pm, the event starts at 7.

Diamond Club holding raffle for gun, VISA gift card. ***Corrected***

The BCHS Diamond Club is selling raffle tickets. Each are $10 with the drawing August 13 at the Lady Royals first home softball game. First prize is $500 toward a gun from Chuck's Gun and Pawn in Warner Robins. Second prize is a $250 VISA gift card. Third is a $100 VISA gift card. Tickets can be purchased from any parent or by calling (478)230-2071.

Former Royal Abney to play for Mercer University.

Though former BCHS baseball player Chandler Abney had originally committed to Gordon College baseball last year, he would eventually have to quit due to lingering arm soreness from Tommy John Surgery. After taking time off and with his arm feeling better, he recently tried out and was offered a spot on the Mercer University baseball team. Abney announced his commitment to Mercer via social media last night.

One of the ways current and upcoming BCHS girls soccer players stay sharp during the offseason is to play in 6v6 leagues. BC has been doing for the past few years under head coach Wesley Odom. 6v6 is a faster paced version of soccer played on a shorter field with no offsides.
This summer, both current and upcoming players have been participating in a 6v6 league at Southern Pines. BC is currently 2-1 in the league, winning Monday night against West Laurens team one. They'll play again July 8.
