A contributed photo of Brent Honeywell following surgery at the office of renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
Former Bleckley and current Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Brent Honeywell had to undergo surgery recently for a medial epicondyle evulsion fracture. The injury occurred during a bullpen session as he was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery last year. Honeywell is recovering and thanks everyone for the messages of support he’s received following the surgery. He appreciates all who've reached out and says he will overcome the injury and be back on the mound.

Learning what to do in case of an emergency.

(Photos courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) People have had to face emergency situations the past two years with tropical storms hitting locally. An event held Friday morning hoped to educate people on what to do in case of a hurricane, pandemic virus outbreak, or other national emergency. Bleckley County Health Department, along with Bleckley EMS and Heartland EMS hosted an emergency preparedness drive thru at the Lucas Road location. Those who came by were told they’d come to Heartland for shots or other medial needs. As part of the drill, head of household forms were collected listing medial needs of family members. Handed out was information and cases of water. Also sponsoring Friday’s drill was the Cochran Police Department, Cochran Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, and Promise of Hope.
