Local girl crowned Tiny Miss Georgia Peach.

(Courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) Abigail Goss was crowned 2019 Tiny Miss Georgia Peach Queen at the Georgia Peach Pageant held in March at Fort Valley State University. A rising second grader at Bleckley Primary, she’s the daughter of Joey and Chassity Goss and the granddaughter of Billy and Barbra Yeomans, all of Cochran. Abigail has received school awards for math, art, PE, as well as being named “Author of the Month.” She and her sister queens will serve as ambassadors at the Georgia Peach Festival in Fort Valley July 7-8 as well as make other appearances throughout the year. In January 2020, she and the other queens will be honored with resolutions in both the Georgia House and Senate, plus meet Governor Brian Kemp.

Krieg finishes high school golf career on good note.

(Courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) Brooke Krieg closed out her BCHS golf career this week at the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association All Star Tournament in Moultrie. This was the second straight appearance for Krieg who was nominated by head coach Dave Wiegert. The two-day tournament featured a North versus South format with both team and individual matches. Krieg and fellow South team member Mailey Buzzell from Veterans High School were victorious in best ball match play on June 5, winning 4 & 3. Yesterday, Krieg was victorious in her singles match, and the South team prevailed 19 ½ to 13 ½. Krieg will continue her golf career at Truett-McConnell College.

A look at what's happened during time in the wild.



Parents, grandparents, and others gathered inside the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church Thursday night for Parents Night at Vacation Bible School. This year's theme has been "Into the Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus." Children performed songs that they'd been practicing all week. Following the program, everyone enjoyed free sno cones courtesy of the Shaved Ice Place.

The Cochran Police Department provided a special sendoff Thursday morning for three young ladies who will be representing Bleckley County this weekend at the Miss Georgia Forestry State Pageant in Tifton. The BCHS boys basketball team is now 5-0 in summer league play with a 60-51 win versus Dooly County yesterday and a 37-34 win against Wilcox County today.
