How you can use Apple Music to support Rebecca Howell on The Voice.

Rebecca Howell will be part of the Top 24 performances this coming Monday night on NBC'S The Voice. Besides voting via the app and website, users of Apple Music can also help support her. Once her song is released following her performance, stream it as many times as possible. The most streamed song on Apple Music will get a certain number of votes. The Voice airs at 8 pm and can be seen on 41 NBC.

Celebrating the Bible.



Hundreds gathered on the courthouse square Friday night for opening ceremonies of the 16th annual Bible Reading Marathon. Emceed by former Cochran First United Methodist Church Pastor and current U.S. Army Family Life Chaplain Wyne Hutchings, several local community leaders spoke including mayor Billy Yeomans, county commissioner Bob Brockman, and sheriff Kris Coody. Following remarks by state representative Danny Mathis, children from First United Methodist Church Playschool and Orchid Rise Child Enrichment Center sang and were presented Bibles by Gideons International member Sammy Haupt. First readers were Kennedy McWhorter and Carter Peacock. Readings will continue nightly on the courthouse square through May 1. Closing ceremonies will be May 2, the National Day of Prayer, at 11:45 am.

There will be a called Board of Education meeting April 29 at 7 pm in the board offices located at 242 E Dykes St. According to a tweet posted by the school district, purpose of the meeting is to act on the Facilities Plan, HVAC bids, personnel matters, and any other business to come before the board.

A night to show off literary and musical talents.



BCHS has students talented in both music and drama. It was that talent, plus having two first place finishers in essay, that helped them finish state runner up in literary competition last month. Thursday night, both were on display in a combined Royal Singers/Literary concert. Audience members heard both choir performances as well as select musical and oral performances from this year's literary team. The Royal Singers will travel to Orlando, Florida next weekend for the OrlandoFest music competition.
