The following Bleckley County Middle School students placed in the top 10 in their events at the Junior Beat Club National Convention held recently in Orlando, Florida. Vada Bloodworth- Second place, Speech. Cole Lewis- Sixth place, Sixth grade math. Anniston Howell- Seventh place, Black and White Photography. Avery McWhorter- Ninth place, Jewelry.

What's closed for July 4?

Friday, July 4 is a federal holiday. All federal, state, and local government offices (city hall, county courthouse) will be closed. Banks will be closed and there will be no mail delivery. Both the Chamber of Commerce and rec. department will be closed. Cocrahn Police Department also announced they would be closed on July 4 via Facebook and instructed citizens to call 911 for emergencies, (478)934-6282 for non emergencies. While national chains such as Walmart will be open, some local businesses may be closed. You should contact the individual business to find out their status.
