Middle School Sports
Basketball teams lose at J.R. Trippe.

BCMS basketball was swept in games played at J.R. Trippe Thursday afternoon. The girls lost 47-16, the boys fell 29-20. Teams return to action December 3 at West Laurens.

Special recognition a big part of BOE meeting.

The Board of Education was recently named an Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Board Association. Pictured L-R are Superintendent Dr. Trey Belflower, Shanna Evans, Dianne Lester, Amy Williams, David Rojas, and Brandon Keel.
Recognizing teacher and student achievement was a main focus of the latest Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.

Bleckley Elementary students go "Into the Woods."

Bleckley Elementary fourth grade English Language Arts students completed their drama unit and got the opportunity to watch BCHS One Act perform "Into the Woods Jr." Bleckley will compete at state November 23 at Houston County High School. They go on at 4:15 pm. All performances are free and open to the public. Per GHSA rules, no photography or videopgraphy is allowed during any performance.

Originally scheduled to feature both teams, BCHS girls basketball took on West Laurens in a scrimmage game Wednesday afternoon. The boys didn’t play as many of the players are still involved with football. The Lady Royals opened the game 28-0 and had a 53-12 lead at halftime. Reserves played in the fourth as BC rolled 76-35. Ava Jenkins, in her Bleckley debut, scored 32 points, including 22 in the first half. Kalyria Jones and Amiyah Roberts each scored 10 points. The regular season tips off November 26 at Perry. Girls play at 1:30 pm with boys to follow.
