Lady Royals get dramatic walk-off win versus Telfair. ***Updated***

BCHS welcomed Telfair County Wednesday afternoon.  The Lady Trojans came ranked third in Class A.  BC edged Telfair 2-1 in their lone meeting last year.

Both teams missed scoring opportunities in the first inning.  The first two Telfair runners of the game reached base but were left stranded while the Lady Royals couldn’t capitalize on having the bases loaded with one out.

Kate Williams

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Natalie Fordham sent a ball over the centerfield fence for her first high school career home run, a two-run shot  TC got one in the fifth.   In the top of the sixth, a solo home run with two outs tied the game.

Rayea Dominy

They would take a 3-2 lead thanks to three straight BC errors.  Fordham’s sac fly in the home half tied the score.  After stranding a Lady Trojan in the seventh, BC got the first two runners on in the home half.  A sac bunt moved them to second and third.

Jeriyah Evans was all smiles as she came around to score after hitting a game-winning grand slam.

The next batter was intentionally walked to load the bases.  Telfair got the next batter out on a fielder’s choice to home plate.  That brought Jeriyah Evans to the plate.  With two strikes, she  sent a pitch over the left field fence for a walk-off grand slam.  It was the first home run of Evans high school career.

She finished 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.  Rayea Dominy struck out six, gave up one earned run and three hits over seven innings.  Sarah Vaughn was 1 for 2.  Editor’s note: I just learned late Thursday afternoon via Facebook that the team is going to Roberta today to make up the August 27 postponed game versus Crawford County.
