A successful Clash of the Classes for cross country teams.
Lillie Kay Darsey finished second for the sixth grade girls. Middle school teams. Brody Gibbs and Lily Farrell. High school teams. (Middle school photos contributed.) Lady Royals go 2-1 at Watermelon Classic.
BCHS softball was in Cordele this weekend for the Watermelon Classic. Their opening game against Camden County was suspended Friday night due to weather and completed Saturday morning at 8:30 am. It was a 1-0 loss that saw BC with just five hits against a 7A school. They were no hit against Wilcox County but prevailed 2-0. The offense was better in their finale against Peach County, an 8-1 win. Sarah Vaugh was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Ashanti Flagg went 3 for 4. Zoey Adams went 2 for 4 with a triple and 1 RBI. Royals shut down West Laurens to open regular season.
BCHS held the Raiders to less than 100 yards rushing and just three points in a 28-3 win Friday night. Click for more.
Lady Royals lose at Vidalia.
Due to a scheduling mistake, BCHS traveled to Vidalia Wednesday night for their game against the eighth-ranked Lady Indians. It was a tough one as BC lost 11-3. Augusta Finch was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI. Natalie Fordham and Jalycia Stanley each went 1 for 2. Bleckley travels to Cordele this weekend for the Watermelon Classic. They play Camden County Friday at 5 pm.
Lady Royals rally past Dodge in region opener.
After struggling with runners on base all game, BCHS got a sixth inning sac fly and two base hits in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the Lady Indians 4-3 in their region opener. Click for more.

BCHS Football Players of the Week for the Taylor County jamboree scrimmage as announced by the Touchdown Club Facebook page. Offense- Brody Fleming. Defense- Cody Register. Special Teams- JJ Stephens. Bleckley begins the regular season August 21 at West Laurens. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
Cross country teams begins season.
Both the BCHS and BCMS Cross County teams traveled to Hazlehurst Saturday morning for the Peach State Preview hosted by Jeff Davis High School. The middle school girls, and both high school teams finished in first place. BC also had three individual champions. Good night for Royals at jamboree scrimmage.
BCHS was in Butler Friday night for a jamboree scrimmage versus Southwest and Taylor County. The Royals played two quarters against each team, varsity played all four quarters. BC shut out Southwest 30-0 and beat the Vikings 17-0. The regular season begins August 21 at West Laurens, kickoff is 7:30 pm.
Lady Royals outlast Washington County.
BCHS took a 10-3 lead into the late innings at Washington County Thursday night with a pair of five-run outbursts. They held off a late charge by the Lady Hawks to win 10-8.. Augusta Finch homered twice and Ashanti Flagg also homered. Finch was 2 for 4 with 5 RBI. Jalycia Stanley was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI. Zoey Adams was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. BCHS Cheerleader makes All State Squad.

Bleckley County High School senior competition cheerleader Anna Kate Wall was at Columbus State University Saturday to try out for the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association All State Squad. That morning, she had an interview with judges. In the afternoon, she performed a routine. Squad mates Eve Mullis, Mari Angus, and Briley Rozier were part of her stunt group. When the top 16 were announced, Wall's name was called. She made the All State Squad consisting of cheerleaders from classes 1A-4A. The squad will be recognized November 14 at the end of the state finals in Macon where Wall will receive her scholarship.
Freshmen shine in final scrimmages for Lady Royals.
BCHS softball had their final preseason scrimmages Thursday at Middle Georgia State University. The Lady Royals have five freshmen on this year's team. Two of them did big things during the day. In their win versus Johnson County, freshman Sarah Vaughn picked up her first high school win. In a tie game with Brantley County, freshman Augusta Finch hit her first home run, a two-run shot. Bleckley opens the regular season August 4 at Hawkinsville, start time is 5:30 pm.
BCHS Cheerleader to compete for GCCA Cheerleader of the Year and All-State spot.

Bleckley County High School senior competition cheerleader Anna Kate Wall will be trying out for Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association Cheerleader of the Year and a spot on the All-State quad. Wall was nominated by head coach Heather Davis. To be eligible, Wall had to complete an essay and get two letters of recommendation. One from Davis and one from someone close to her. She had to meet a GPA requirement and also get administrative approval that she was of good character and worthy of representing BCHS. The tryout will be on August [...]

With dead week done and school starting in less than a month, BCHS has been hard at work getting ready for the 2026 season. The Lady Royals lost five players to graduation. The team has been practicing and doing summer scrimmage games to prepare. Tuesday, they hosted Perry High School. They were at Southern Pines Thursdya for what was supposed to be two scrimmage games. They gave always tough West Laurens a battle in losing 3-0. The game was slowed by a lightning delay. [...]

Former Royals basketball coach Kerbo passes away.
Former BCHS boys basketball coach Clifford Kerbo has passed away. The announcement came Sunday via the Dublin City Schools Facebook page where he almost coached. Kerbo coached eight seasons for Bleckley. He lead the Royals to a 28-4 record and a state runner-up finish in 2013 and won AA Coach of the Year.

The BCHS baseball team held a kids camp this week. Players learned about things such as hitting and fielding from players and coaches. The final thing for Thursday was wet fun as a makeshift slip 'n slide was made in the outfield to allow the campers to some practice in sliding
Good summer for Royals basketball.
(Photos contributed.) The BCHS boys basketball team has been busy preparing for the 2026-27 season. They recently traveled to both Auburn University and Valdosta State University for games. BC went 3-0 in both places.
Royals baseball players make Georgia Dugout Club All State Team.
Six BCHS baseball players were selected to the Georgia Dugout Club All State team for Class A Division 1. First team- Walker Boatright (Utility) and Noah Woodard (Infielder.) Second team- Gavin Cole (Utility) and Jay Johnson (DH.) Third team- JD Holloway (Pitcher) and Brody Fleming (Infielder.)
Lady Royals hold softball camp.
The BCHS softball team held a kids camp this past Wednesday through Friday. Children received instruction from Lady Royal coaches and players on things such as hitting, defense, and base running. Baseball team getting in early work for next season.
Though the 2027 baseball season is still some time away, BCHS has been getting an early start with summer practices and a few summer scrimmage games. They've played a few five-inning doubleheaders in order to give both the upcoming freshmen as well as returning players a chance to play. Royals Football player commits to Georgia Tech.
(Photo courtesy @ZLassiter24 on X) Von and Zayden Lassiter. Zayden Lassiter announced Saturday via social media he had committed to Georgia Tech. Lassiter, the son of head coach Von Lassiter, is an upcoming senior for BCHS. A longs napper and tight end for the Royals, Lassiter committed to Georgia Tech for his special teams skills. Lassiter received high marks at Rubio Long Snapping events held by Chris Rubio including winning the top overall championship at Rubio 48 held recently in Las Vegas. He received several offers, from D1 schools including all three service academies.

Longtime Team Chaplain, Pastor, recognzied.

Lady Royals soccer advances in playoff thriller.
The team with coaches Jennifer Mays, Haley Holloway and Courtney White. BCHS Girls Soccer opened the GHSA playoffs at home Tuesday afternoon versus Dade County. The game was scoreless after 80 minutes and two 10-minute overtime periods. That meant penalty kicks. In the first 5v5 PK session, Anniston Howell and Braylee Cobb scored. Dade also made two kicks, which sent the game into sudden death penalty kicks. In that session, Daylee Scoggins connected for BC only to see Dade score to even the tally.
