  • BCHS softball was in Cordele this weekend for the Watermelon Classic.  Their opening game against Camden County was suspended Friday night due to weather and completed Saturday morning at 8:30 am.  It was a 1-0 loss that saw BC with just five hits against a 7A school.  They were no hit against Wilcox County but prevailed 2-0.  The offense was better in their finale against Peach County, an 8-1 win.  Sarah Vaugh was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI.  Ashanti Flagg went 3 for 4.  Zoey Adams went 2 for 4 with a triple and 1 RBI.  Emily Ferrell was 2 for 4.  Bleckley travels to Irwin County August 24.  It will be a doubleheader to make up for the rained out game in Cochran.  Game one starts at5 pm.

  • BCMS fell to 0-2 on the young football season with an 18-16 home loss to Johnson County Thursday afternoon.  Region play begins versus Dodge County August 26 at 5 pm in Cochran.

  • Ja'Leia Fredick was 3 for 3 with an RBI and also struck out seven in five innings as BCMS picked up their first region win, 9-1 against Dodge County, at home Thursday afternoon.  Aniyah Love was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Brayleigh Powell was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Bleckley has a pair of five-inning scrimmages (A Team and B Team five innings each) at home versus Jones County August 24.  Region play resumes at East Laurens August 25, game time is 4:30 pm.

  • Middle Georgia State University announced the President’s and Dean’s Liss for the Summer 2026 Semester.  Students making the President’s List had a minimal GPA of 3.8 while those making the Dean’s List required a minimum GPA of 3l.5.  Both require a certain number of credit hours to qualify.  Savannah Gilbert and Alexis Nicole Zachman made the President’s List.  Kymani Miller made the Dean’s List.

  • Due to a scheduling mistake, BCHS traveled to Vidalia Wednesday night for their game against the eighth-ranked Lady Indians.  It was a tough one as BC lost 11-3.  Augusta Finch was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI.  Natalie Fordham and Jalycia Stanley each went 1 for 2.  Bleckley travels to Cordele this weekend for the Watermelon Classic.  They play Camden County Friday at 5 pm.

  •   Ja'Leia Fredrick Kate Skipper Chloe Morgan                   Four players had two hits as BCMS picked up their first win of the season, a 12-3 victory versus former region opponent Swainsboro Wednesday afternoon.  Makayla Hogan was 2 for 2 with a triple an 2 RBI.  Brayleigh Powell was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI,  Blakelyn Bessenbacher was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI.  Kate Skipper was 2 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Region play resumes tomorrow at home versus Dodge County at 4:30 pm.

  • The Dre Day Foundation held their fifth annual Back to School Summit August 1 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  The event saw backpacks and school supplies handed out to children.  A statement has been released today thanking the community for their support.   Thank you for standing with DreDay and supporting our work.
