(Photos contributed.)  Both the Runnin' Barons boys and girls teams won the MGMSAA Championship Tuesday afternoon in Cochran.  Jasper Faulk remained undefeated in races this season, finishing first for the boys.  Emma Claire Amerson was top female runner. Mayor Carla Coley held a public forum Tuesday night in the city auditorium.  The forum was an opportunity for citizens to either ask questions directly or submit written queries.  Randy Thompson, director of Campus Engagement for the Cochran campus of Middle Georgia State University, served as moderator.  A variety of questions were raised on things including fees, communication between the city and residents, and the city manager search which has been widely discussed recently on social media.

An overflow crowd packed the activity room and adjacent hallway at Bleckley Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon for the new hospital chapel dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.  The ceremony featured remarks by CEO John Roland and an interfaith blessing by Rep. Danny Mathis.  The ribbon cutting was handled by the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce.  In the chapel there is a plaque honoring loved ones who passed done by the families of the loved ones.  To add to the plaque, call the hospital and ask to speak to someone in administration who will assist in getting your loved one's name added.

Natalie Fordham was announced as this year's recipient of the Nikki Graham Memorial Scholarship. Head coach Haley Holloway is seen presenting a certificate signifying the honor. BCHS closed out the home regular season on a high note, pounding Swainsboro 12-0 to sweep the region series.  Ashanti Flagg was 3 for 4 with a solo home run.  Zoey Adams went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and 3 RBI.  Natalie Fordham was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI.  Augusta Finch went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Bleckley travels to Telfair County tomorrow.  Game time is 5:30 pm.

  Alaysia Coley Sarah Vaughn Hailey Davis Natalie Fordham Augusta Finch coming home after homering.                                                                                                                               With needing more time to get the field ready due to Sunday night's rain, it was a game under lights as BCHS welcomed Hawkinsville to Cochran.  The Lady Royals fell to the Lady Devils 8-6 in BC's first game of the season August 4.  Monday night proved to be much different.   BC scored in five of six innings to beat Hawkinsville 9-1 Monday night.  Rayea Dominy threw a no-hitter, one unearned run over six innings, six strikeouts and no walks.  She also was 3 for 4 from the plate with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI.  Augusta Finch went 2 for 3 with a home run and 1 RBI.  Jeriya Evans went 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI.  Natalie Fordham went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Senior night recognition will take place before tomorrow's [...]
