BCHS took a 10-3 lead into the late innings at Washington County Thursday night with a pair of five-run outbursts.  They held off a late charge by the Lady Hawks to win 10-8..  Augusta Finch homered twice and Ashanti Flagg also homered.  Finch was 2 for 4 with 5 RBI.  Jalycia Stanley was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI.   Zoey Adams was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Natalie Fordham was 2 for 4 with a double.  Jeriyah Evans was 2 for 4.  The Lady Royals open region play at home August 18 versus Dodge County.  First pitch is at 5:30 pm.

Today's Lady Barons home softball game versus Dublin has been postponed due to weather and field conditions.  BCMS travels to West Laurens August 18.  Game time is 4:30 pm.

BCMS fell at home to Pulaski County Middle School 8-6 Wednesday afternoon.  They host Johnson County August 20 at 5 pm.

The location of the final pre-season contest for BCHS has changed.  As announced by head coach Von Lassiter, there was a cancellation of the scheduled scrimmage at Wilkinson County  As a result, Bleckley will travel to Butler to take on Taylor County and Southwest in a jamboree scrimmage.  It begins at 6:45 pm and the Royals will play two quarters against each team.  Admission is $10, either via GoFan or cash at the gate.

Not pictured: Rebecca Smith.)     It was a very busy time for the Cochran City Council Tuesday evening.  Before the regular meeting, they held a called meeting in executive session to deal with city business.  During the regular meeting which included a full agenda of items, some employees were recognized.  Shawn Bass was recognized for 15 years of service in the Waste Water Treatment Department.  Four City Hall employees were named  Employees of the Quarter because of their efforts to fill in what has been an understaffed city hall due to personnel changes.  They were Diamond Clemons, Bonnie Raffield, Mercedes Sanders, and Rebecca Smith.

Today's BCHS softball game versus Irwin County has been cancelled due to weather.  The Lady Royals home opener is tomorrow at 5:30 pm versus Jones County.

BCHS Football Players of the Week for the Hawkinsville scrimmage as announced by the Touchdown Club Facebook page.  Offense- Zyion Love.  Defense- Cody Register.  Special Teams- Dylan Lamb.  Bleckley travels to Irwinton Friday for a scrimmage vs Wilkinson County.  Kickoff is 7:30 pm.

In recent weeks, the Red Cross has put announcements out stating there was a critical need for blood.  Monday, Cochran was the site of trying to fill some of the need with a blood drive.  Volunteers stated that turnout had been good with many walkup appointments.  The next drive will be October 12 in the main room of the Extension Office.
