With the threat of bad weather tomorrow night from Hurricane Isais, the Royals homecoming game versus A.C.E. was moved to Thursday night.  Despite the change, it was still a good night for BC.

Zyion Love puts his head down to push through to the endzone.

An attempted squib kick to open the game was recovered by Bleckley near midfield.  Though unable to punch it in, they did get a 34-yard Dylan Lamb field goal to go up 3-0.  On the Gryphons next drive, they went for it on fourth and one from their own 40 and was stopped.  This time the Royals did fully capitalize , getting a Brody Fleming seven-yard touchdown run as the lead grew to 10-0.

Several Royals are in on the stop.

Early in the second quarter, Jason McNulty caught a 12-yard pass for six points.  Bleckley’s final score of the half game with 7:22 left on a Zyion Love one-yard touchdown run.  But it was the defense that ensured a shutout at halftime.  They stopped the Gryphons on fourth and goal from the one with about 10 seconds left.  Thanks to that, BCHS led 24-0 at halftime.

The third quarter saw Bleckley’s lead grow on a 39-yard Kelvin Sneed touchdown reception. BC’s defense got another fourth down stop, this time fourth and goal from the nine.  Sneed then got lose on a 78-yard touchdown reception pushing the lead to 38-0.  But the Gryphons answered on their next possession with a 75-yard touchdown pass of their own to get on the board.

With the victory, head coach Von Lassiter picked up his 75th win as BCHS head coach, the most in Royals football history. He was recognized in a ceremony after the game. Lassiter is pictured with BCHS Principal Dr. Brad Knox and School Superintendent Dr. Trey Belflowe

In the fourth, they got an interception from a halfback pass and returned it to the BC 24.  They capitalized on a five-yard touchdown pass with 8:34 left and a 2-point conversion.  BC then began to grind out the lock, letting reserves play.  They put together an over seven minute drive that was capped by a Raylan Devane two-yard touchdown run.  Bleckley rolled 45-15.

Fleming was 12 of 16 for 238 and three touchdowns.   Love rushed for 154 yards on three carries.  Sneed caught four passes for 137 yards.  BC renews their rivalry with Dodge County October 16 in Eastman.  Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
