Special recognition part of Board of Education meeting.

Special recognition at a Board of Education meeting is always a special affair.  That was one of the main things to happen at the monthly meeting held July 16.

Both the girls and boys track teams were recognized for winning the state title. As has been previously noted, BCHS was the first public school ever to sweep the team championships for both cross country and track in the same season.

Recognized next were Beta Club national champions.  Alice Warren was the national champion in Division 1 Pottery.  The Beta Club Show Choir won their third consecutive national title.

Next, BCHS Principal Dr. Brad Knox presented a special plaque to retiring drama teacher Kelli Greer.  The plaque highlighted her many achievements which included winning three state championships in One Act Play as well as a state title in Literary.

The one contract approved was the renewal of the Schooll Resource Officer agreement with the Sheriff’s Office at a cost of  $181,442.42  To read the complete agreement, go to

From the executive session: Chance Pittman was added to the athletic staffing plan as an assistant coach for BCHS baseball.  Jay Holiday was named BCMS head baseball coach.
