Bad sixth inning costs Lady Royals at A.C.E.

BCHS was in Macon at A.C.E. Tuesday evening. The Lady Royals edged the Gryphons 4-3 when the teams met in Cochran. For five innings, Bleckley appeared poised to sweep the season series.

They would use things such as an RBI groundout, fielder’s choice, and wild pitch to build a 5-0 lead. But in the bottom of the sixth, things took a bad turn. It started with two straight errors.

By the end of the inning, four errors along with three hits gave A.C.E. a 7-5 lead. Bleckley would try to rally in the seventh. Rayea Dominy doubled with two outs. She scored on Natalie Fordham’s hit cut the deficit to one. But there would be no comeback as the Lady Royals fell 7-6.

Dominy had three of the team’s five hits going 3 for 3 with two doubles and 1 RBI and also gave up 0 earned runs. Bleckley travels to East Laurens Oct. 1. Game time is 6 pm.
