Another Step Forward for Cheerleaders in Forsyth.

While facing quality competition is important for cheer squads, the bigger deal is to improve each week so they can be ready for region/sectionals and state.  BCHS was in Forsyth for the CheerDawg Classic Saturday with a goal of improving.

They only had two other squads in the division.  One of them though was Fitzgerald. a team that finished ahead of them this season.  Despite the longer drive and the fact many parents would be rushing back to Cochran with their girls so they could ready for Saturday night’s Homecoming dance, there was a good group of supporters in attendance.

As BC prepared to enter the gym, a loud chant of “Let’s go Bleckley” broke out.  The crowd was its loudest yet when the squad took the mat.  That volume stayed high for Bleckley’s best performance yet.

Though not all the stunts were pulled, all the stunt groups stayed up.  Part of the pyramid came down early but there was lots to like.  Great tumbling, good energy, clean transitions, and good jumps.  Bleckley got another well-earned ovation at the end.

When it was time to announce the winners, most had left to prepare for Homecoming.  But the few remained cheered loudly when BC’s name was announced as first place.  Just as head coach Heather Davis had said, their goal was to improve each week.  And they did.   BCHS travels to Vidalia for the Sweet Onion Cheer Classic October 10.
