Early morning on the mat at East Laurens.

Both the BCMS and BCHS Competition Cheer Squads made the short drive early Saturday morning to East Laurens High School for the 30th Annual Falcon Frenzy.  Both squads were the second team to perform in their session.  The middle school began at 9 am, high school at 10:45.

BCMS was up first.  A large group of supporters gathered behind the rail in the priority viewing area to cheer the squad on.  They got off to a good start.  But there were stunts that did not stay up.  The effort was there, just not the execution.  But as always, they received a loud ovation as they left the mat.

The Barons wouldn’t finish in the top three.  But their effort was still applauded.  The squad had been dealing with lots of illness during the week.  They had to put in an alternate and make last-minute changes to the routine as a result.  On the team Facebook page, head coach Ashley Baubitz spoke of how proud of the girls she was for powering through the adversity and their hard work.

BCHS took the mat around 10:50 am.  Again, a large group of supporters were on hand  They also got off to a good start.  But some of the stunt groups didn’t stay up.  And there were two drops during the pyramid.  But like with the middle school, supporters still applauded their efforts.

When it was time for results, the Royals finished n second place.  There were two deductions for the drops.  While there was wondering if the extra long layoff (BCHS didn’t compete at the rescheduled Sweet Onion Cheer Classic) the belief was as it’s been all season.  Keep working to improve each week.      BCMS will host MGMSAA region October 29 at 6:30 pm.  BCHS travels to McIntosh October 31.
